Sheffield Tigers are anxiously awaiting news on whether stand-in skipper Andre Compton will ride again this season.
Compton has been struggling with a wrist injury sustained earlier this month and the remainder of the campaign had been thrown into doubt.
But club bosses need a decision soon with a busy August looming and Thursday’s home meeting with Rye House on the horizon.
Boss Jack Lee said: “It’s been a tough season with injuries and other issues and obviously we want Andre back if at all possible.
“It’s never ideal booking guests and thankfully we’ve been able to bring replacements in for Ty Proctor and Ash Birks.
“It’s a tough schedule coming up and I hope we can keep putting points on the board and ensure we qualify for the play-offs when we know anything can happen.
“It was good for Paco Castagna to make his debut against Cradley last week and he got some valuable laps in around Sheffield.
“He’s been keen to ride in the UK for a couple of seasons now so hopefully he will settle down and do a good job for us.
“Rye House won’t be easy, we have Brady Kurtz in for Simon Stead and it would be great to have Andre back.”
The Rockets, meanwhile, have booked Josh Grajczonek as guest cover for Thursday night.
