DAVID Hoggart says new Argentinian signing Facundo Albin has what it takes to carve out a successful Premier League career with Sheffield.
Albin has been in impressive form in the national championships in his home country and Owlerton boss Hoggart reckons he will be a big hit with Tigers fans.
His signing raised a few eyebrows amongst the Sheffield faithful but Hoggart insists he will be popular because of his all-action style and attitude.
Albin reached the final of the fifth round of the series at the weekend after four straight wins including an impressive victory over Birmingham’s Nico Ovatti.
Said Hoggart: “I’m sure he can do a good job for us this season, he’s very much up for the challenge.
“He’s been doing well in Argentina and is clearly one of the top riders in the series. There is no reason why he can’t come to Sheffield and start well.
“He may need a bit of time to settle in, as every new rider does, but he will love the wide open spaces of Owlerton as his home track.
“We got a lot of feedback from supporters who had never heard of him when we signed him and I think they will be suitably impressed.
“We’re not expecting big things from him but we would like to think he can score in the region of five points in the early stages and build on that.
“The Premier League is a tough division and he knows it, but he has good machinery and he will be very well prepared. He can certainly provide some valuable support to the boys at the top end of the team.”
