SIMON Stead last night pulled on a Tigers race jacket for the first time in over a decade and said: “It feels good to be home!”
Stead, who has lived in Sheffield all his life, spent four successful seasons with the club in the early stages of his career.
He left in 2002 and went on to win the Elite League title with Swindon and represent Great Britain in the World Cup.
Stead met up with his 2013 Tigers colleagues for a practice session last night. He said: “I’m delighted to be back. It feels good to be home. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Tigers face Elite League Birmingham in their Owlerton opener next Thursday, March 28. Birmingham will be without Chris Harris but have drafted in former Tigers favourite Ricky Ashworth, who is about to spend a second successive season on loan to Premier League Berwick.
