SHANE Parker is going for gold this Sunday – just weeks before he retires.
The Sheffield ace is one of two Tigers riders in the Premier League Riders’ Championship at Owlerton Stadium (5pm).
The event features the top rider from every club and Ricky Ashworth joins Parker as one of the biggest scoring riders who are second in the averages.
Organisers of the event are expecting a bumper turnout and Parker, who is heading back to Australia with his family in the winter, admits it’s the biggest meeting of his season.
He said: “This is just about the biggest and most important individual event available to me and I’ve never felt more confident going into a meeting like this. It’s probably the biggest meeting outside the Elite League in this country and it would be a massive honour for me to win it.
“I’ve been riding well and every time I go out on the bike I feel really good about my chances of winning races.”
