EMILIANO Sanchez has the backing of the Tigers management as he bids to ride himself back into form.
Sanchez takes his place in the Sheffield side for tonight’s Premier League clash with Leicester at Owlerton (7.45).
Club owner Neil Machin is tipping Sanchez to rediscover the form he has shown in previous seasons after a nightmare run of misfortune.
He said: “Emiliano has had some back luck this year and none of it has been his fault. He was injured in our first home match against Belle Vue which kept him out for a while and that meant he was playing catch-up.
“He has been unlucky, which is something we saw in the win at Somerset recently when he crashed and hurt an elbow, and supporters have got to give him time to get back up to speed. Emiliano is getting there and sometimes people have short memories, his match-winning score and performance at Plymouth being one example.
“I hope the fans will get behind him because he does need a confidence lift and once he gets over that race-rustiness, then he will go on to be a key member of our side.”
Tonight’s home engagement means a swift return for Richard Hall, who made the switch from Sheffield to Leicester during the winter in a loan deal.
He made a guest appearance for the Tigers last week in place of the injured Josh Auty who is likely to be out for another month with a broken ankle.
The rider replacement facility will be in operation for Auty which means the remaining six riders in the side are eligible to take his four programmed rides.
