TIGERS co-promoter David Hoggart says the final team member for next season will be unveiled by the weekend.

Hoggart and club owner Neil Machin have been in talks with a number of potential targets and a deal is set to be finalised within 24 hours.

American ace Ricky Wells is one of the riders under the Owlerton radar after rejecting a return to Plymouth. He has recently agreed a deal with Elite League Wolverhampton but is in the market to double-up with a Premier League club.

Tigers have also registered their interest in Swedish ace Ricky Kling and German international Christian Hefenbrock.

And they held preliminary talks with Danish star Rene Bach before he signed for Peterborough which is also a Thursday night track so that automatically ruled him out of a move to Sheffield.

Said Hoggart: “We are close to being in a position to announce our last team member. Everything is in place and we should be able to announce him before the Christmas break.

“I prefer not to comment on individual targets or speculation but we have been looking at a wise variety of options for a while now.

“We didn’t expect to have to build a team without Josh Auty this winter but it has allowed us to revamp the side and bring in some new faces.

“The way we are shaping up we will be looking solid from top to bottom although I acknowledge we won’t have the big hitting spearhead that some clubs will.

“Now the team is coming together we can focus on other areas of the business and start building up to what should be an interesting season.

“Neil and myself wanted to get the team finalised in time for Christmas and we have achieved that which is most pleasing.”
