SIMON Lambert’s preparations for the new season have been hit by the loss of his main sponsor.
Lambert, with Sheffield for a second successive season after making a successful switch from Scunthorpe last year, is looking for new backers to make up the shortfall. He admits it’s a tough time for the sport with costs rising and the economic climate making sponsorship hard to find.
Lambert is a key member of the Tigers team for the new season which starts on March 17 against Elite League side Belle Vue at Owlerton.
His points from the reserve berth could prove vital in their push for silverware.
He said: “I am now busy working on my bikes for the new season and trying to secure sponsorship for this year.
“My main sponsor is not available this year so I am still looking for a main sponsor to help me.
“I’d like to thank all the sponsors who have agreed to stick with me this year. I do understand that in the present climate it is not always easy but fully appreciate all the help I already get. If anyone is interested in helping me with say, fuel, tyres, etc. please get in touch.
“I am looking forward to getting some practice time in on the track and the new season is almost upon us, I am really looking forward to it with both Sheffield and Stoke.
“I am pleased to be linking up with Malcolm Vasey the team manager at Stoke because he has known me since I was a young boy and has seen my career progress. I think I can have a good season in the National League with Stoke and win lots of races and I think the Sheffield team looks good enough to be in the hunt for silverware.” Anybody interested in backing any of the seven Tigers riders should contact 01142 853142.
