Departing Auty is a doubt for final Tigers race

Have your say

JOSH Auty has revealed how he has already agreed terms with a club for next season.

And that means if he doesn’t make it for tonight’s Tigers trip to Ipswich he has ridden his last race for the Owlerton club.

Auty is struggling with illness and may have to fit out the trip to Suffolk although at this stage he is named in the team.

Tigers are already without Ricky Ashworth, who is struggling with an arm injury, and reserve Simon Lambert who crashed last week.

Scunthorpe’s Michael Palm Toft will guest for Lambert and the rider replacement facility will be used for Ashworth.

Auty has hinted he has agreed to join a club where he can spend time on the track whenever he wants – and that suggests he could be heading to Scunthorpe or Newport who have unrestricted planning permission.

He said: “To the Sheffield promotion and supporters, first of all I would like to thank you all for your support over the past three years.

“I’ve had a fantastic time but to better and further my career I feel that I need a track where I can get as much track time as I need.

“I still have ambitions to eventually race in Elite league full time and to get to the top and I do not want to stay in Premier League all my life.

“I’ve already done my deal for 2012 so you will just have to wait and see who I’ve signed for!”

Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart insists Auty leaves the club with his good wishes.

He said: “We understand why Josh wants to make a change to his career and he leaves Sheffield with our best wishes.

“He says he has had a fantastic time with us and we have had a fantastic time having him in the team.

“We wish him well and whilst we are aware of the club he has agreed to sign for we feel it is only fair to allow them to make the relevant announcement.”
