Snooker: Joel aims to defy the odds in Masters

Young Sheffield potter Joel Walker will be looking to cause a major upset in the German Masters qualifiers today.

The 19-year-old takes on Robert Milkins, the world number 13, at 10am at the Barnsley Metrodome.

“I am enjoying things at the moment,” said Walker, who is ranked 86. “I am playing a lot better, the results are coming and I feel I am starting to compete with the top players.”

Fellow Sheffielders Adam Duffy faces Marco Fu tonight while talented amateur Mitchell Travis will lock horns with Rod Lawler.

The German Masters qualifiers take place today and tomorrow. Tickets are priced at £5 per day, with three sessions on each day at 10am, 2.30pm and 7pm. For more information, ring 01226 738 618.
