It promises to be a quiet summer for Adam Duffy after the Sheffield cueman failed to qualify for the final stages of the Australian Goldfields Open.

Duffy fell to a 5-4 defeat to Chinese potter Li Hang in the second round of qualifying last week, meaning he will not take part in the world ranking event in Bendigo, which starts on June 30.

The 25-year-old defeated Cao Xinlong five frames to two in his opener.

Fellow Sheffielder Joel Walker also bowed out in the second stage of the qualifying format. Walker, who regularly practices at Fulwood Sports Club, beat amateur Brandon Sargeant before falling to Anthony McGill.
