FORMER Rotherham potter Shaun Murphy crashed out of the China Open after suffering a first round defeat.
The ex-world champion was upset 5-2 by Chinese qualifier Li Ning.
World No 5 Murphy fought back from 2-0 down with a top break of 63 to level the match, but Ning won three frames on the spin with runs of 114, 119 and 68 to triumph on his home turf. Meanwhile, Sheffield-based Ding Junhui resumes his title-challenge against Mark Sebly, the double Masters winner, today with a quarter-final place at stake.
Ding came back from 4-0 down to beat Ben Woollaston 5-4 in his first round match earlier this week.
