Sheffield-based Ding Junhui has been fined £2,000 for failing to reveal he was too unwell to compete at his best prior in a match.

China’s world number four did not disclose his illness to organisers of a Euro Players Tour Championship event in Germany in October.

Ding was beaten 4-0 by Liang Wenbo and officials reported him to the World Snooker Association, who said Ding’s decision to play without informing authorities of his ill-health meant he “did not compete properly”.
