DONCASTER’S Aaron Mason posted two top-class performances in his Comline/A Golf GTI MkV in rounds three and four of the Volkswagen Racing Cup Championship at Snetterton.
Averaging 81 mph around the Norfolk track, Mason qualified fourth on the grid in a time of 2 minutes 11 seconds for the first of the two rounds.
He soon started to chase down the three cars in front, eventually crossing the line in third in a time of 22 minutes 17 seconds.
Mason took the lead in round four by the second corner. He was overtaken by Steve Chaplin in the Beetle RSI only to win back the lead when Chaplin went wide at Williams, winning in 21 minutes 57 seconds after the 10-lap race.
He is lying second in the championship on 178 points.
