SHEFFIELD is set to be at the heart of giving table tennis in Great Britain a golden future.

Plans are underway for the sport’s elite performance centre at the English Institute of Sport to share expertise with similar programmes in China and Japan - where the world’s best players are based.

English Table Tennis Association chief executive Richard Yule said: “After the Olympic Games we’ll be signing a deal with cities in China and Japan to bring their players over here and send ours there. It will help us to become medal contenders.”
