Sheffield Wednesday: Owls confirm pre-season programme

Portuguese giants Benfica will provide the showpiece opposition at Hillsborough in pre-season, Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed.

The Primeira Liga champions will visit S6 on Wednesday July 20 in a 7.30pm kick off.

On the following day, the Owls will head to Portugal themselves for a six-day pre-season camp which will feature a match with CD Nacional on Sunday July 24 at the Estadio Albufeira Municipal.

After returning from Portugal, Wednesday will play their only other home friendly of the summer when Port Vale visit Hillsborough on Saturday July 31.

The Owls will kick off their pre-season programme with a trip to National League side Alfreton Town on Wednesday, July 13.

And they visit near-neighbours Chesterfield on Saturday, July 16.
