Sheffield United: Norwegian starlet speaks out on rejecting Blades after '£18m summer bid'

Sheffield United enjoyed a highly successful summer transfer window, in which they broke their transfer record on no less than four occasions to bring in the likes of Scotland international Oli McBurnie, and midfield dynamo Luke Freeman.

However, earlier in the month, Genk's director of football, Dimitri de Conde, revealed that the Blades submitted a substantial bid for their talented youngster, only for the player to turn down the opportunity of a big move to the Premier League.

Now, Berg himself has spoken about over the speculation linking him with a move away from the Belgian side, and told TV2 (via HITC): "I can't go into more detail about things but of course it was interesting. I could have gone this summer, that's not to hide. But I felt it was best to stay.”

He concluded: "I am only 21 years old and the playing time, and the position I have at Genk I consider very good. Swapping (clubs) it is not something you just do.”

Berge is widely regarded as a real talent for the future, and has already racked up an impressive 16 caps for his country at senior level. He is also currently playing in the Champions League, where his side were on the receiving end of a 6-2 thrashing by RB Salzburg on Tuesday evening.
