Sheffield speedway: Smile is back on Josh's face

Jason Garrity is feeling good ahead of Sheffield's clash with Newcastle at Owlerton tonight (7.30).

Garrity needed a few days off to recover his fitness and confidence and now believes he is about to hit top form.

“I was struggling for the first few months of this season but since taking a few days off I’ve felt more like myself in the last few meetings,” Garrity said. “I wasn’t overly happy with my bikes, I was struggling after a few knocks and wasn’t performing how I should have been. The boys picked up a fantastic win at Scunthorpe while I was out; it’s as though we all dig even deeper when we’re a rider down. That was a massive away win away and to come back into the side after a result like that meant everyone was on a high.

“The meetings at home to Berwick and Workington felt much better and I’m hoping they’re a sign of how the rest of the year is going to go for me and the team. I’ve started taking the pressure off me; I’m just trying to relax more and enjoy my racing and the more I do that the more it seems to help. Hopefully I can get back in the big points.”

Newcastle boast a powerhouse side. Robert Lambert is in contention for a World Cup spot with Great Britain, Steve Worrall is in the form of his career and Jack Holder is a guest replacement.

“This will be a tough meeting, but we know what we have to do,” said Garrity.

“They’re a good side with quality riders who know how to get around Sheffield but if we all ride to our ability we will be fine.”
