Sam Collinson, a 12-year-old 2nd Dan from Walkley, has made a big name for himself in the world of karate competition.

He has beaten some of the best in Europe and the world. He represents the AMA National karate squad at national, international and world tournaments. His most recent success was winning gold & silver at the Kizuna World Cup earlier this month.

He also came third in last years WUKF World championships in Poland. Sam is now looking forward to competing in the WUKF European championships in Belgium in June.

Sam trains at South Yorkshire Shotokan Karate under the tutelage of 5th Dan, Sensei Nev Hamilton.

Nev said: “Sam deserves all the success that he is achieving and we have been putting 100% into training in the run up to the European championships where, hopefully he can emulate the success of 2013 when he won European Gold in Sheffield.

“Sam is not only an immensely talented athlete but he has an awareness and understanding of karate that is well beyond his years.

“If he continues in this vein I am confident that Sam will win many more tournaments and is set to become one of the biggest names in Karate.”
