Sharks surrendered their unbeaten record with an overtime defeat despite leading 63-47 with just one quarter to play.

Former North Carolina guard Wes Miller nailed a three-pointer 12 seconds from the buzzer to land the decisive blow on a lacklustre Sharks.

After a tight opening quarter, which they shaded 20-18, Sharks began to exert their authority during the second period.

Defensively Sheffield limited Capital to just 14 points while scoring 24 of their own to lead 44-32 heading into half time.

After the break Sheffield once more stifled the London offence to hold a 63-47 advantage with ten minutes remaining. London stormed back during the final period though to tie the match at 74-74 and shock the fans in overtime.

Scantlebury said: "This could act as a wake-up call. We were up 16 or 17 in regulation and then by seven in overtime but they wanted it more than us, and that is disappointing.

"How they react to this defeat will tell me a lot about them. We're all still getting to know each other but games like this give you a lot of pointers."

Tonight they take on reigning champions Guildford Heat at The Spectrum in Surrey. Heat went top of the BBL last night with a 106-100 win at Milton Keynes.
