Steve Wallace received a pass just outside the crease from Robert Dowd, after stopping the puck with his skate, spinning round and shooting in to the back of the net.

All three lines played hard with good passing and movement and shots on goal.

Telford were quick to break out, though, and one breakaway was saved by a sprawling dive by Ben Morgan to block the puck.

This was followed by a long passing shot from Shudra to Slamiar who sprinted down the ice, decked the goalie and slotted home the puck at 14.47 on a delayed penalty.

The third goal of the period came from a great back-handed flick of the puck into the top of the net by Simon Butterworth at 16.35.

A solid first 3-0 period by the Scimitars with equal shots on goal (14) on both back-up netminders.

Scimitars capitalised eventually at 26.01 with a powerplay goal by Morgan, from Dowd and Wallace. It was again lifted up over the goalie's shoulder.

Shortly after, at 27.52, Moberg struck with a shot along the ice to make it 5-0. As Telford continued to hit penalty problems, Sheffield scored again at 36.49 by Dowd, from Moberg and Morgan.

A short fracas broke out after Slamiar received two checks to the face, for which Telford got 2 penalty minutes but Slamiar picked up a 10 minute misconduct.

He then received a further 10 minutes for misconduct which saw him ejected from the game.

Telford scored shortly after at 38.00, with a shorthanded goal by Dumas into the top corner.

Scimitars responded quickly with their seventh goal, a PP goal from Duncombe and Butterworth.

The period ended 7-1.
