OFFICIALS at Rotherham Titans and Aberavon are now trying to rearrange their postponed tie in the British and Irish Cup which had to be called off because of the frozen pitch at Clifton Lane.

The game which should have taken place this afternoon is now expected to be played some time in mid-week, but it is too soon to know precisely when.

When the RFU referee Brian Campsall arrived at Clifton Lane yesterday lunchtime to inspect the ground. it did not take him long to decide that the surface was too hard and that it was unplayable.

Rotherham had known for several days that the ground was unfit, but were not in a position to call off the match until the pitch had been checked officially by a local referee appointed by the RFU.

Titans coach, Alex Codling, has already begun his preparations for the Titans’ next match - the Championship clash in Jersey a week today.

Fly half James McKinney and lock forward Dan Sanderson are expected to be recalled to the starting line-up.
