Sheffield Tigers boss Dan Richmond says his side must learn quickly if they are not to suffer a disastrous season in SSE National Two North.

Bottom club Tigers have slipped to seven straight losses this season but with the visit of Luctonians this weekend – Richmond is looking for an upturn in performances and results.

The breakdown area and in particular the interpretation of the referee has cost Sheffield on more than one occasion this season and Richmond believes he needs answers ahead of the visit of Luctonians.

The 40-16 loss at Otley was difficult for Richmond to stomach but the Sheffield boss intends to work with the officials to improve rather than spend his days cursing his side’s current troubles.

Richmond felt his side struggled both in terms of physicality as well as with the officials against Otley.

“There were strong performances again; it’s just when we got to that final moment that we created an error, be it legally or illegally from Otley. The penalty count was ridiculously high without one of their players going to the bin. I’m more concerned with performance and that gives you longevity in how you build a club and those guys that took their opportunities this week will certainly be rewarded next week with a start. There will definitely be changes.”
