SHEFFIELD Tigers called it ‘a marvellous advert for rugby.’

Last week’s game was fingernail crunchingly close - they beat Bromsgrove 42-41.

The super-close National 2 North contest starred Jon Buchanan, who excelled in defence and attack. The only downside was a neck injury to Bromsgrove’s Tom Warren.

The victory keeps Tigers in equal fourth equal spot in the league and Tom Outram’s 17 points sees him on top of the league kickers with 97 points.

On Saturday, Tigers journey south to Herefordshire to face Luctonians.

Sheffield RUFC are third in North One East a position strengthened by a 25-10 win over Middlesbrough.

This weekend sees them attempt to ease away from fourth-place Old Crossleyans, who have just been hammered 46-11 at leaders Wheatley Hills. Wheatley are on the road at Morpeth.

In Yorkshire Division One, Dinnington face a difficult assignment. Last weekend, they were routed 53-3 at home to unbeaten Huddersfield YMCA.

Now they are on the road at Wath Upon Dearne, who lie second in the division.
