Sheffield Tigers head into the forthcoming season with a new director of rugby, Dan Richmond, after parting company with head coach Ben Wade.
Tigers are intent on building on their sixth place in National Two North and look to progress under Richmond, a personal assistant for England U18s. Richmond’s role will be hands on with the development with all players and coaches throughout the club, including overseeing the Development side and the newly-formed Colts team. For the previous two years he was at Rosslyn Park as player-coach and is a former captain for Bedford Blues and Northampton Saints. He said; “Tigers is a passionate club and I sense they are ready to move forward. My role is to primarily expand the playing and coaching from grassroots to the first team.”
Lock Dominic Parsons returns from Doncaster Knights and top try scorer Jamie Broadley has moved to Rotherham Titans together with back row Max Argyle. Veteran locks Richard Joel and Steve Pearson have gone to Sheffield RUFC along with Wade.
*Rotherham Titans have added scrum coach Micky Ward to the coaching set-up at Clifton Lane.
He will join the Titans one day a week to give the front row specialised coaching as the Titans “aim to have angles covered” for the Championship campaign ahead.
