THE first Yorkshire derby of the Championship season turned into a horror show for Doncaster Knights as they crashed to a 42-7 defeat against Leeds Carnegie at Headingley last night.
The hosts exploited poor defending to take the lead inside the first minute through Jamel Chisholm and it went downhill from there for the Knights.
Flanker Adam Kettle was sent off for apparent dangerous play while Rhys Buckley and winger Dougie Flockhart were both yellow carded as referee Greg Macdonald took centre stage.
Sam Lockwood and Curtis Wilson both scored twice for Leeds with Christian Georgiou also going over – none of the tries requiring anything special from the hosts .
Joe Ford kicked three conversions and a couple of penalties.
Skipper Matt Challinor managed a consolation try in a second half which brought slight improvement from Brett Davey’s side with Jamie Lennard adding the extras.
The defeat took the Knights’ winless run to 16 matches as they enter two weeks of British and Irish Cup action.
