Winger Dave Hankinson scored a hat trick as Doncaster Phoenix strolled to a ten-try 64-0 victory at home to Northern in North One East.

Phoenix put the game out of reach early on and kept up the pace throughout to reclaim top spot.

Winger Josh Fowler got the ball rolling for the home side before prop Joe Lowcock weighed in with a try converted by fly-half Jamie Lennard.

Lennard kept up his form from the tee throughout the game, adding points from tries by second row Chris Planchant, centre Tom Battey and two from prop Tom Bagnall.

Tom Barker also went over for a score for Phoenix before Hankinson got the final try to complete his hat trick.

Following promotion from Yorkshire One, Phoenix have won ten out of 11 games. They are level on points with Morley but have a far superior points difference.

Thornensians put up a strong first half performance to defeat Baildon 18-7 in the second round of the Yorkshire Silver Trophy.

Thorne were 18-0 up at the break thanks to tries from centre Rob Brown and flanker Martin Moffatt. Brown added a conversion and two penalties.

Baildon threatened to make Thorne rue some missed opportunities with a try early in the second half, and the visitors couldn’t add to their scored despite some ferocious running from pacey front-row Aden Smith.
