Rotherham Titans have strengthened their first-team squad for next season by signing second row forward Tom Holmes from Premiership club Sale Sharks.
Holmes, aged 24, has played 20 times for Sale in major competitions, including the Premiership, and has been on loan to Rotherham since March, playing in seven Championship games.
“Tom has been in good form since he has been with us and has made a significant contribution to our success recently,” said coach Lee Blackett. “He will play a big role for us in the play-offs where his experience will be invaluable for Rotherham.
“His line-out work is impressive and his work rate is second to none. Tom is well respected by our players who like his hardness and with Dan Sanderson joining Worcester, he is an excellent replacement.”
Holmes, who began his career at Cheshire club Sandbach RUFC near Manchester, made his first Titans appearance against Bristol in March and has since played from the start against Plymouth,Bedford,Cornish Pirates, Leeds and Ealing.
“Coming to Rotherham has been great for me because I have been playing regularly,” he said. “I can’t wait for the play-offs and I am sure Rotherham will be able to surprise opponents who underestimate us.”
