Locals to face Maori backlash

Have your say

THE combined might of the RFU Championship XV can expect a backlash from the New Zealand Maori in the prestige friendly at Doncaster’s Castle Park today (12.05 start) with more than 4,000 expected to attend.

The Maori All Blacks lost their proud unbeaten record this week losing for the first time in five years when going down 32-24 to Leicester in front of 17,000 at Welford Road on Tuesday. The tourists included four full-capped All Blacks.

The home squad has a South Yorkshire flavour with prop Tom Davies and full-back Dante Mama from Doncaster Knights, hooker Ted Stagg from Rotherham Titans and ex-Titans No 8 Ryan Burrows.
