DONCASTER Knights’ boss Brett Davey has added to his squad ahead of the Championship run-in by signing of 19-year-old tight-head prop Tomas Francis until the end of the season.
A second-year student at Leeds University, Francis was brought to the club by Knights’ No 8 Andy Boyde, who coaches the Leeds’ team and who earmarked him as a player with huge potential.
“I’m very thankful for the great opportunity in such a good set-up and facilities,” said Francis.
“I would love to have a long future at the Knights and if I get a shot at Championship rugby this season I aim to take it.”
Weighing in at 140kg, Francis will provide extra cover for Alex Brown and Royce Burke-Flynn who have shared the duties at tight-head so far this season.
“The conditioning work is brilliant and very needed,” he said. “My game has already improved tenfold under Andy, Glen Kenworthy and Steve Boden, plus I owe Brett so much for taking me on.”
Said Davey: “He fits the bill and has vast potential. Hopefully he has a long future at Castle Park.”
