FORMER Coventry winger Ben Toft is Doncaster Knights’ latest signing ahead of the 2011-12 Championship campaign.

The 24 year-old Toft made over 50 appearances at Championship level for Coventry in a three-year spell at the Midlands club before joining French side Oyonnax.

A product of the Leicester Academy, Toft signed his first professional contract with the Tigers and during his time there turned out for England at U16, U18 and U19 level.

“I know Ben well from my time at Coventry and I think he is the ideal complement to the two wingers we already have, Flockhart and Keating,” said Doncaster’s director of rugby, Brett Davey.

“While the two of them have size and power, Ben has pace, guile and a few tricks up his sleeve”.

He added: “There is a strong theme running through recruitment at Doncaster and that is balance. It is imperative that we are able to change our game dependent upon the situation and I believe we are building the foundations to enable that.”

Although predominantly a winger, Toft is another player who can comfortably fill in at full-back.
