Rotherham scrum half, Joe Bedford, who was dropped by coach Andre Bester before the Titans’ last Championship game against Bristol last Saturday, is expected to regain his place for Sunday’s game at Birmingham-Solihull in the British and Irish Cup.
Bedford, appointed captain at the start of the season and has stayed fit throughout the toughest of Championship campaigns, was replaced by Matt Rhodes.
Rotherham are in the fortunate position of having two good scrum halve and it is bound to be frustrating when only one plays regularly.
Rhodes, ex-Royal Marines, who fought in Afghanistan, is a natural leader which is why he has captained Rotherham in their British and Irish Cup games and why he took over from Bedford in the Bristol game last weekend.
Sunday’s cup tie is Rotherham’s last in the competition, and without a win so far in four matches they are keen to open their account.
Bees are bottom of Pool D and are struggling in the Cup as they are in the Championship, but as Rotherham know from their recent league game, Bees are not to be taken lightly. Earlier this month, Titans lost 25-24, but the side which appeared then will show several changes on Sunday.
