Clive Griffiths’ men started their Championship campaign with a bang at Castle Park.
Dougie Flockhart treated the home faithful to a successful kicking afternoon as he fired over a collection of points to help down a battling Plymouth Albion.
Paul Jarvis opened the scoring following a masterclass of pace and power as the winger crashed over in the 33rd minute for a converted try.
Canadian Tyler Hotson added Knights’ second converted try for a 14-0 half time lead.
Albion managed to break their duck after the restart through a Lawrence Rayner penalty, however, Flockhart kicked successfully in response.
Rayner and Flockhart continued to exchange kicks as the scoreboard read 20-6 to the hosts.
However, Michael Hills put the game to bed with a last-gasp try as Flockhart converted to claim Doncaster’s opening day win.
