DONCASTER Knights boss Brett Davey is looking to his charges to back up last weekend’s B & I Cup win at Nottingham in tomorrow’s Championship clash against fellow strugglers Moseley at Castle Park (7.45).
Commenting on the club’s first win of the season, the Welshman said: “It was a very good performance and the players were excellent. There have been a few things that we’ve been trying to iron out and it all came to fruition on the night.
“Even though results had been disappointing, I had felt that we were starting to get where we wanted to be in recent games. I don’t think that there had been a lot wrong with the rugby when we started playing, but we’d lacked a bit of flow.
“We are now getting a better understanding of what we are looking to achieve. Not for one minute am I saying that we’ve turned the corner and we know that we need to back up the performance at Meadow Lane in the league in the coming weeks and climb up the table. But it was certainly encouraging.
“The pack played well and that gave the half-backs the chance to shine. Scrum-half Louis Silver has come in this season and has shown up really well and (fly-half) Tom Luke has come back from injury in the last couple of weeks and he also showed up well last Friday.
“But the whole team did well. We took the game to them in defence and we also played some good rugby when we moved the ball.”
