Bottom club Tigers eager to pull of away victory

Dan Richmond believes Leicester Lions could find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time as his Sheffield Tigers go in search of their first SSE National League Two North victory of the season.

Sheffield failed to pick up a victory at the fourth time of asking on Saturday as they fell to a home 31-21 defeat at the hands of Chester.

The defeat leaves the Tigers propping up the table; they are the only team yet to register a single point. And Saturday’s 10-point difference the closest they have been to an opposing side so far.

But director of rugby Richmond is not about to throw in the towel. And with a trip to Leicester coming up this weekend, he insists the Lions could be in for a mauling. “The first four games of the season have been a good measuring stick for us and for where we are,” said Richmond.

“I’m aware of areas that we can build on to become formidable and I don’t think we’re all that far away. Once we have achieved that we can move the club forward. We have got to focus on what we do well and try to improve on the bits that we aren’t doing so well. We are improving. We are developing on every performance and I am sure that first win is close, hopefully this weekend.”

Richmond added: “Leicester pride themselves on their forward play and that is where it will be won or lost this weekend.”

We have a good pack but so do they so it will come down to minor details but fingers crossed we will be on the right side of that.”
