They say that football is lacking in tough men these days; ‘take a look at rugby players,’ the critics cry, ‘you’ll never see them going to ground easily?’
Well this past weekend saw an example of rugby league taking perhaps a little too much notice of their association football counterparts when Sheffield Eagles had a player sent off for an apparent headbutt in their match against Hunslet.
Misi Taulapapa went for an early bath after an altercation with George Flanagan and while it’s clear that the Eagles’s Kiwi winger did indeed push his head towards his opponent, Flanagan’s reaction is a little, let’s say exaggerated.
Taulapapa is now facing up to a spell on the sidelines as punishment.
