SHEFFIELD Eagles will play five of their home Championship fixtures at Bramall Lane next season.
All the games at Sheffield United’s ground will be in the first half of the season and include the clash with Featherstone Rovers who the Eagles beat to win last season’s Grand Final.
“It’s great that we will be playing some of the games at Bramall Lane,” said coach Mark Aston. “It’s a great venue and provides a big stage for rugby league.”
The rest of the Eagles’ league fixtures will be at Don Valley Stadium with the first game against Batley Bulldogs on Friday 8 February.
The derby game against Doncaster – who won the Championship One title last season - will be on Good Friday at Don Valley with a 7.30pm kick-off.
Aston said: “Doncaster at home at Easter – it’s great to get a local derby back on the calendar. Doncaster will have a big point to prove.
“They had a great year and have got used to winning and that gives confidence so it should be a game to savour and enjoy.”
The five games to be played at Bramall Lane are: York, Friday March 1, 7.30pm; Featherstone, Thursday March 14, 7.30pm; Barrow, Sunday April 14, 3pm; Dewsbury, Friday May 3, 7.30pm; Halifax, Friday May 24, 7.30pm.
