Sheffield Eagles will come into tomorrow’s Kingstone Press Championship clash with London Broncos “full of confidence” despite defeat at Dewsbury in the opening round of fixtures.

Eagles will be looking to make amends for their defeat at the Tetley’s Stadium by christening their stint at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium with victory over London.

Director of rugby Mark Aston has taken a positive approach after the 19-10 defeat against the Rams, and he believes his side has what it takes to beat the Championship newcomers.

“We take positives from last week and despite the result we come into this game against a full-time outfit in London Broncos with a lot of confidence,” said a bullish Aston.

“There is no doubt in my mind that we can beat London and we’ll be going all out to do that.

“We are at home on a wide pitch and we will be asking questions of them. We have watched them in pre-season and we feel that there are areas that we can target where we feel we might have some success.

“We need to make sure that we are disciplined and we execute our game-plan.”

There will be two familiar faces in the Broncos’ line-up with former player/coach Andrew Henderson returning as London’s assistant manager, while centre Matt Garside is also back to face his old employers.

Aston has been dealt an injury blow, with prop Mitchell Stringer is set to be sidelined for at least a month.
