SHEFFIELD Eagles’ coach Mark Aston has some big selection decisions ahead of the away game at Dewsbury Rams.
A weekend without a game has helped clear up a number of injuries, giving Aston an almost full squad to choose from.
Final checks are being made on prop forward Jack Howieson who missed the last two games with a groin strain. Winger Danny Mills is expected to have recovered from a dislocated finger.
The pair will be pushing for a return and a complicating factor in Aston’s thinking will be the availability of his four dual registration players.
“We’ve had a few niggling injuries but having the extra week off always helps those clear up,” said Aston. “People are back and fit and it’s great to have competition for places. “We’ve had three wins on the bounce but there’s always room for improvement and we’ll pick the team we feel is right for the game.”
Howieson’s experience and influence as the team’s longest-serving player argues for an instant recall but all the props have put in big performances in the wins over Toulouse and Halifax.
Mills scored two tries in his last game at York but his replacement Vinny Finigan, on a dual reg loan from Bradford Bulls, has claimed touchdowns in each of the last two games. All the four dual reg players are expected to be fit but Aston must wait for clearance from their parent club that they are available before deciding on his final 17.
