Sheffield Eagles coach Mark Aston has added his teenage son Cory to the squad for tonight’s game against Keighley Cougars.

The 18-year-old half-back has yet to make a league appearance but made his senior debut in the third round of the Challenge Cup against an amateur team scoring two tries.

“Cory will be in the 19; it’s not certain he will be in the team (tonight) but it is my intention that he will play during the next three games,” said Aston.

Aston, who was also 18 when he made his Eagles debut in 1986, added: “I know the Championship is a different level but Cory is making a case to be given his chance.”

Powerful forwards Alex Szostak and Colton Roche are also recalled to the squad for tonight’s game at the Don Valley Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm.

The Eagles need to bounce back after defeats in the Challenge Cup and Northern Rail final in the past weeks.
