Aston plots Scots downfall

IRELAND coach Mark Aston will use his inside knowledge of three of his Sheffield Eagles players as he plans the downfall of Scotland tomorrow.

Mitch Stringer, Andrew Henderson and Alex Szostak line up for the Bravehearts in the opening European Cup game in Edinburgh.

“It’s a problem for the lads because I know all their weaknesses,” said Aston. “International rugby is the pinnacle of rugby league and hopefully Irish pride will come out top.”

Aston who took over as Ireland coach last season, is set to give a first cap to new Eagles forward Calton Roche.

The Eagles are hopeful fullback Quentin Laulu-Togagae, the club’s top try scorer, and loose-forward Joe Hirst will not need knee surgery during the winter.

n Laulu-Togagae has been named the 2012 Rugby League World Magazine Championship Player of the Year.
