The young winger has been in sparkling form for Aston’s side in recent weeks, and earned a deserved try in the narrow defeat to Leigh.

Despite the loss, Aston was full of praise for his team and for Millar in particular, who he says is benefiting from some hard yards off the field.

He told The Star: “Ryan was great again, and he deserved his try.

“He’s been in good form.

“He does the little things that we all talk about - looking at his game back on the video.

“He is always looking to improve. It doesn’t surprise me, he is a great kid.”

Millar has been one of Aston’s most consistent performers, bagging 18 tries from his 25 outings in all competitions this season.

A product of the academy system, his continued development has delighted his coach who insists there is more to come.

He added: “He was solid again and he is looking more accomplished with every game.

“I am delighted with his progress and his improvement.

“He is still relatively young, so there’s more to come.

“Nothing surprises me with Ryan because he is a good kid.

“He has been brought up right, he wants to improve and he wants to develop.

“We have talked about certain things, and he goes out there and does it.

“It doesn't surprise me, that's the professional rugby league player that wants to improve.

“He is certainly doing that.”
