A Toll Bar forward faces a possible lifetime ban from the sport after striking a referee in the club’s Yorkshire League Division One game at Crofton Cougars.

The referee, who abandoned the game with the Doncaster side leading 18-14, suffered a broken nose and two black eyes after being punched in the face.

The incident took place after the official showed the player a red card after reportedly being verbally abused after showing him a yellow card. The player has since been banned by the club.
