Masi Matongo and Will Oakes sign one-year extensions for Sheffield Eagles
Sheffield Eagles continue their planning for next season by securing a couple of key players
Masi Matongo and Will Oakes have both been announced by Sheffield Eagles to have signed new one-year deals, keeping them in the squad for the 2027 season.

Masi Matongo is set to enter his third season of playing for the Eagles, after a successful 2026 campaign in which he made 25 appearances and scored his first try for the club in a dominant 44-20 win against Rochdale Hornets.
The forward joined the Eagles originally back in 2025, after previously featuring for Hull FC in the Betfred Super League, along with spells at Bradford Bulls and York Knights.
Will Oakes will also be entering his third season with the Eagles, after joining towards the end of the 2025 campaign.
At the start of this year’s campaign, he went out on loan to Batley Bulldogs, featuring in four fixtures for the side, before returning to the Eagles and becoming a constant in the centre position, making 21 appearances throughout the season.
Forming a strong partnership with Joe Brown on the wing, Will Oakes crossed over for two tries this season and helped provide a consistent spark on the right edge of the pitch.
With the news of both players' new extensions, the Eagles now have 16 players currently contracted for the 2027 season.
