Sheffield Eagles Women start new season with win at home
Sheffield Eagles' Women's team kicked off their 2026 Championship campaign in style on Sunday with a convincing 58–16 win over Oulton Raidettes.
The Eagles ran in eleven tries in a dominant display, with Favour Irimagha crossing four times. Tilly Davies and Kayleigh West both grabbed braces, while Rachel Eastwood, Brooke Price and Bettie Lambert also got on the scoresheet in a comfortable home victory.

It continues a positive start to the year for Sheffield's Women's side, who had already recorded back-to-back clean sheets in the early rounds of the Challenge Shield against Thatto Heath Crusaders and Leigh Miners Rangers. Their progress in that competition was ended last weekend with a quarter-final defeat to Manchester Swinton Lionesses, but this was an ideal response as they returned to winning ways.
They face the Lionesses again next Sunday and will be looking to put that cup loss behind them while making it two league wins from two.
The club’s wheelchair side were also in action over the weekend, travelling to London Roosters in the quarter-finals of the Betfred Challenge Cup.
Tries from Luis Domingos (2), Chris Haynes and Joe Wink-Simmonds were not enough to see them through, as they exited the competition at the last-eight stage.
