SHEFFIELD Eagles aim to head back home with a morale-boosting win in the final away match of the season tomorrow night.

Coach Mark Aston sees a win at Barrow Raiders a springboard for a leap up the league in the final three league games – all at Bramall Lane.

“We’re pretty confident that we will be in the play-offs so we need to get as far up the league as we can,” he said.

“We want to finish off the league season strongly. We could finish fourth, that would be an improvement on last season and who knows what can happen in the play-offs?

The Eagles need a win or even a losing ‘bonus’ point to put the final nail in the coffin of Barrow’s hopes of making the top six.

Barrow are trying to rebuild after a turbulent season with Dave Clark back as coach for his fourth spell in charge.

The Raiders play-offs hopes were dealt a mortal blow last month when they were docked six points for salary cap breaches in 2010.

The Eagles beat Barrow 30-26 in June but Aston says the Raiders are a difficult team to predict.

Aston added: “I watched them at Dewsbury a couple of weeks ago and for ten minutes they turned it on and showed they can play. They could be desperate but you have to ask do they want it?”
