THE Dons are one of the clubs who have booked a table at tomorrow’s Rugby League’s Charity fund-raising Dinner at the Lewis Jones Suite, Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Stars of the sport will be attendance, with over 60 top Super League players pledging to support the event, which will now split the proceeds between the Queensland Floods Disaster Fund and that for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake.
The centrepiece of the evening’s entertainment, which includes a three course meal, will be an auction for unique items of memorabilia.
Included are a fully signed, limited edition NRL All-Stars shirt, Matt King’s boots that he wore at Wembley last season when Warrington retained the Challenge Cup.
Other items include a split Wigan/St George jersey from the recent World Club Challenge clash, Socceroos’ skipper Lucas Neill’s signed national shirt, a selection of signed Super League and NRL playing shirts and a year’s subscription to RL Coaching Magazine.
There will be a ‘brains trust’ forum during the evening featuring Wigan coach Michael Maguire, Leeds Rhinos’ former Kangaroo skipper Danny Buderus and Hull captain and NRL stalwart Craig Fitzgibbon. They will be interviewed on stage by top ‘Yorkshire Radio’ presenter Richard Stead.
Among the raffle items are, a weekend in Perpignan for a Catalan Dragons match, an RFL event season ticket, a Leeds corporate package and £250 worth of supplements.
“It should be a fabulous night,” said King.
