Dons star Cooke waiting in wings

PAUL Cooke will not be risked when the Dons step up their pre-season preparations at home to Keighley Cougars tomorrow (3pm) - weather permitting.

Cooke is targeting a return to action against Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats next weekend following his lengthy lay-off with a broken knee cap.

Coach Tony Miller said: “We’re not taking any chances with Paul because of the nature of the injury.

“He’s ready to go now but we won’t be risking him.

“He’s made a really good recovery but he’s a smart kid and knows what is best.”

Dons won 44-16 against Featherstone Rovers U20s last Friday.

Tickets for Sunday are on sale priced £10 adults, £5 concessions and £2 under 16s.
