Winger Stewart Sanderson insists the lure of facing a big draw against a Super League side will help fire up the club ahead for their Tetley’s Challenge Cup clash.
Doncaster host Hemel Stags on Sunday - a side in the division below them.
And whilst kicker Sanderson says the Dons are not taking this weekend’s opposition lightly, he belives the chance of making it into the last 16 of the cup and an opportunity of a Super League opponent in the next round will no doubt help their desire to succeed.
“First and foremost we need to concentrate on Sunday’s match, we know it will be difficult, but hopefully we will be able to get the win,” said Sanderson who has scored 64 points from his first seven matches.
“Everyone wants to test themselves against the best and it would be great to get a big draw at the Keepmoat Stadium if we get through.
“It will give us the opportunity to put ourselves on the map, whilst coming up against some top players.”
He went on: “We need to be professional right from the off, we know it will be a tough game despite Hemel being in the league below us, they will be fired up.
“We will prepare like a normal game and we are confident that if we stick to our game plan, the result willcome. Everyone wants to get through to the next round and hopefully we can get the result in front of our own fans.”
Doncaster will also be keen to move on from their disappointing 48-6 defeat to Halifax last weekend.
“It was tough to stomach, getting beaten in the manner and by the scoreline we did,” added Sanderson.
“We will dust ourselves down and be ready for Sunday’s Challenge Cup match.”
