Doncaster RLFC have signed teenager Jordan Howden from Castleford Tigers.

The 19-year-old stand-off, who scored eight tries on loan at York City Knights last season, will link up with Jordie Hedges in the Dons’ engine room next term.

Head coach Gary Thornton said: “I have seen Jordan develop through the junior ranks of Castleford Tigers Academy, and have always admired his skill levels and attitude to playing and training.

“He is a very talented young player and is equally comfortable at stand off or full back.

“Last year he gained valuable experience in League 1 for York City Knights, where he was a regular top performer for them and they are very disappointed to be losing him.

“I targeted Jordan as a player I wanted to bring in early in our recruitment phase, and I am delighted he has decided to join us.

“I’m confident he will really fulfil his potential over the coming season and will be another exciting addition to our squad.”

Howden is Dons’ 14th confirmed signing for 2016.
