TOP full-back Mick Butterfield is expected to start in Doncaster’s final Championship One game of the season at Gateshead this weekend.

Dons head coach Tony Miller told The Star Butterfield is winning his fitness battle and is likely to feature versus the bottom club.

Miller said: “Mick will be alright for the game. It is a big boost because he has been outstanding for us all year.”

Utility forward Mike Emmett is also in contention to return to the starting line up, having shaken off a minor chest knock.

However, Jamie Bovill is ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a suspected hernia problem. He is set to go for a scan shortly to check out the severity of the injury.

Miller confirmed: “I would be very surprised if he is back this year. Jamie is down at the moment. We have missed his experience but hopefully he will get it sorted out as quickly as possible.”
